Learning how to eat mindfully is an intentional practice that involves adjusting your perception of food to recognize the divinity of not just in the ingredients of a meal, but the honor of the role as eater. We often save practicing presence for prayer, meditation or yoga — times when we are taught to take our time, slow down our racing minds and be intentional with every breath, every movement and every thought. But, we have the opportunity to bring mindfulness and presence to every activity we engage in, even ones that seem as mundane and routine as eating.
In the podcast shared below from Ram Dass joined by Joseph Goldstein and Jack Kornfield, they talke about breaking our negative attachments to foods, the process of eating and how to eat in a meditative way.
